ORDINANCE NO. ~~b AN ORDINANCE A..mmDDTG CHAPTER 1+ OF THE MUNIO IPAL CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT BY ADDING THERETO ARTICLE X CREATING THE OFFICE OF VILLAGE ENGINEER WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interests of the Vil- lage of Mount Prospect that it have a resident Village Engineer to handle the growing number of engineering problems confronting the Village, and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees, having duly considered the recommendations of a Special Citizens Com- mittee selected for the purpose of suggesting the appointment of a Village Engineer and proscribing the duties to be performed by him, find and believe that it 1s to the best interests of the Village that said recommendations be adopted and instrumented through the vehicle of an ordinance, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1. That the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect is hereby amended by adding to Chapter 1+ thereof the following: "ARTICLE X. VILLAGE ENGINEER. "Section 1+.1001. There is hereby established the ot- fice of Village Engineer. "Section ~.l002. APpointment and Removal. The Village Engineer shall be appointed by the President of the Village with the advice and consent of the Board ot Trustees tor an indefinite term of office. He shall be chosen on the oasis of his profesaional and administrative competence. He shall have a degree in civil engineering from a recognized college or university, practical ex- perience in municipal engineering, and be eligible ter a profes- sional engineering license issued by the State of Illinois. He may me removed by the President with a concurrence ot a majority of the Trustees of the Village Board. "Section 4.1003. Duties. The Village Engineer shall be responsible for turnishing professional engineering service to the Village in connection with planning and executing public works and improvements. He ahall work with engineering consultants hired from time to time by the Village. He shall otter technical assistance and advice to the Village Manager and all Department heads. He will give technical advice to the Village President and Trustees on matters concerning the development of the Village. His work shall be performed under the general direction of the Village Manager." Section~. That this ordinance ahall be in full torce and effect from and after its passage and approval, according to law.
