ORDINANCE NO. 4 5 4 0 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE V ENTITLED "METERS AND RATES" OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: Article V entitled "Meters and Rates' of Chapter 22 of the Village Code is hereby amended by the provisions included in Subsections (A), (B), and (C) below: (A) By ameoding Subsection B of Section 22.502 to read as follows: In the event that a water meter reading is not obtained at least five (5) days prior to the mailing date of a water bill, the Director of Finance shall establish an estimated meter reading to be used for billing purposes based upon a like period during the preceding year, or in such manner as the Director may determine. In the event that a meter reading is estimated for three (3) consecutive billing periods, the Director of Finance shall notify the consumer and/or property owner that a meter reading is required. After such notice and the failure of the consumer and/or property owner to provide access to the water meter within ten (10) days after such notice, the Public Works Director may discontinue water service at such location. (B) By amending Subsections A and B of Section 22.504.2 to read as follows: A. All Village users within the Village, having a direct or indirect connection with Village water mains or pipes shall pay the following rate: Water Rate For each 1,000 gallons of water consumed or portion thereof $2.62 B. All Village users outside the corporate limits of the Village having a direct or indirect connection with Village water mains or pipes shall pay the following rate: Water Rate For each 1,000 gallons consumed or portion thereof $5.24 (C) By amending Subsection C of Section 22.504.3 to read as follows: C. Rate: 1. All Village sewer users within the corporate limits of the Village, having a direct or indirect connection with the Village sewer and water mains or pipes shall pay the following sewer rate, based upon the amount of water consumed to which sewer service is furnished: Per 1,000 gallons of water consumed or portion thereof $0.27 2. All Village sewer users within the corporate limits of the Village having a direct or indirect connection with the Village sewer mains or pipes and not with the Village water mains or pipes, shall pay a fiat rate of: Per month per dwelling unit $2.40 3. All sewer users outside the corporate limits of the Village having a direct or indirect connection with the Village sewer and water mains or pipes, shall pay the following sewer rate based upon the amount of water consumed to which sewer service is furnished: Per 1,000 gallons of water consumed or portion thereof $0.27 4. All sewer users outside the corporate limits of the Village having a direct or indirect connection with the Village sewer mains or pipes, but not with Village water ma.ins or pipes, shall pay a flat rate of: Per month per dwelling unit $2.40 SECTION TWO: The water and sewer rates established by Section One of this Ordinance shall be effective for water used subsequent to April 30, 1993. SECTION THREE: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect May I, 1993 following its passage, approval, and publication in pamphlet form in accordance with law.
