ORDINANCE No. 1027
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER IX SECTION B. PARAGRAPH
7 OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT BUILDING CODE.
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect. County of Cook. State
of Illinois:
Section 1. That Paragraph 7. Chapter IX - Section B of
the Mount Prospect Building Code be and is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"7. The outside of enclosing walls shall have studs
of not less than 2 X 4s placed at 16 inch centers
or a construction equivalent in strength. Stud-
ding shall be continuous from sill to roof plates.
A 2 X 6 inch sill shall be placed on the top of
the foundation wall, securely anchored to it by
3/4 inch bolts with 3 inch washers at 8 foot cen-
ters extending down into the foundation walls not
less than 8 inches. The top plate~ receiving
roof rafters shall be not less than two, 2 X 4s.
Ledger or joist ribbons not less than 1 X 4 notched
into studs shall be used to receive any intermediate
bearing joist. All exterior stud walls shall be
thoroughly and effectively wind braced. A 2 X 6
sill shall not be necessary for garages."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
