ORDINANCE NO. 1085
PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT OF WATER RATES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT:
SECTION ONE: Section 23.309 of the Municipal Code of Mount
Prospect of 1957, as amended, is hereby further amended by deleting the
entire said section and inserting in its place a new Section 23.309, the
said new section to read as follows:

Section 23.309. NON-PAYMENT. All water charges for metered
premises shall be due and payable on or before the 15th day after the
date of the statement for such charges. All bills for metered water
unpaid for the 15 day period provided for shall become delinquent and a
penalty of 10% of the total amount of such bill for water consumed shall
be added thereto and shall be due in addition thereto. Whenver such bill
shall remain unpaid for more than 15 days from the date of the statement
provided for, the water shall be turned off from the premises of such
delinquent consumer and the service shall not be resumed until all water
bills in arrears shall have been paid, including all penalties accrued,
and a charge of $3.00 for expenses incurred in turning off and turning on
the water. It shall be the duty of the Director of Public Works to enforce
the provisions of this section whenever delinquency shall occur.
SECTION TWO: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided
by law.
