BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OPEN SESSION MINUTES
June 7, 2021
Police Department Conference Room
Chairperson Powers called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m.
Roll Call: James Powers, Chairperson

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to approve the Open Session minutes of April 12, 2021.

A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Bork to approve the Open Session Minutes
of April 12, 2021.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to approve to Dispose of Open Meeting Audiotapes/CDs Pursuant to Illinois
Records Commission for the period of November 2019 through January 202.1.
A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Knee to approve the motion to Dispose of
Open Meeting Audiotapes/CDs Pursuant to Illinois Records Commission for the Period of November 2019 through
January 2021.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Fire Chief Dolan announced that Lieutenant Wang is now Acting Deputy Fire Chief Wang. Acting Fire Chief Dolan also
discussed where they are with the Lieutenant promotional process. He also provided a brief update on negotiations. The
first candidate on the Firefighter/Paramedic List has accepted an offer with Arlington Heights so they will move onto the
next candidate.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Koziol reported that the Police Recruit Test will be on June 26 and all candidates will have to be in their seats by 7:45
a.m. Chief Koziol asked if any Board members would like to attend. Chairman Powers said he would be there. Jacqueline
Zimmerman will be sworn in on June 18 at 2:00 p.m. There will also be a Cake and Coffee Retirement for Sergeant Schaps
and Officer Evans on July 1 at 2:00 p.m. Chief Koziol discussed the Lateral Program with the Board and the need for the
program. The Board has already has the questions and the company will be sending a score sheet.

CLOSED SESSION
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to go into closed session:
a. Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or
dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against
an employee to determine its validity.
b. To Approve Closed Session Minutes of April 12, 2021.
c. Semi Annual Review of Closed Session Minutes for release to the Open Session Book.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed Session at 6:10 P.M.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to Open Session at 6:28 p.m.

OTHER BUSINESS
Chairperson Powers discussed the Illinois Public Act 101.656. Chairperson Powers again congratulated the Fire Chief and
Deputy Fire Chief.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner
Claussen to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
