HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/07/2019 FFTB Meeting MinutesForeign Fire Tax Board Meeting Minutes Regular Meeting May 7th, 2019 Meeting called to order at 0833 Roll Call Members Present: Pastori, Johnson, Bocox, Novak, Kowalczyk, Lambel Members Absent: Phenegar Officers Reports: Chairman Report: Mailings are out at the printers, should be sent out in the next couple weeks Treasurer Report: Total $352,423.37 Secretary Report: Approval of minutes from January 22, 2019, motion made by Pastori and second by Novak, Vote: Lambel- Abstain, Yea-Pastori, Johnson, Novak, Kowalczyk Old Business: None New Business: FDIC Submittal: $5,000 earmarked for FDIC for the next three years. To be used for reimbursing individuals' "approved expenses" incurred at FDIC. Due to the hotel rooms needing to be booked a year in advance this three year timeline will allow members to have funds available for reimbursement immediately. Lambel: FFT needs commitment from members who express interest in attending FDIC to fill the purchased hotel rooms. Acknowledges that staying centrally located at a conference hotel room is important for attendees. Novak: Hotel room are often non-refundable when purchased at the lower rate. Pastori: This submittal is the similar to previous year the timeline has been extended to last for 3 years instead of re -voting every year. FDIC vote was approved by all board members present. TRT Boot Proposal submitted by Jon Schram (not present at meeting) Pastori: Duty boots get trashed at drills and deployments. The goal is to have uniformity within the technical rescue team, and make these specialized boots part of the standard issue for all members. The 2019 budget for TRT is depleted. Lambel: This expense should come from the TRT budget. More discussion is needed to determine why the Globe is preferred over other brands of technical rescue boots. These boots do not qualify as benefiting the whole department due to being purchased only for members of TRT. Pastori: Additional funds were requested for the technical rescue budget which was denied Decision was made to table further discussion on submittal until addition information is available. Request was made for input from safety committee and MABAS about what boots provide the best protection and comfort for the TRT members Citizens to be heard: None Motion made to adjourn meeting by Pastori, seconded by Bocox Meeting adjourned 0916
