HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 06-70 04/28/1970 RESOLUTION NO. 6-70 A RESOLUTION DECLARING A NUISANCE V.,lHEREAS>> the Village of Jl10unt Prospect s a municipal corporation of Illinois 1I is one of the many communities located within the O'Hare Field area and its citi- zens haves since the opening of O'Hare Field as a commercial airport, been con- stantly a~oyed and disturbed by the noise of overflights, the air pollution created and spread over said Village by the overflights of airplanes and the ground traffic generated by the Airport facility; and \,..JHEREAS, the congestion of air traffic at O'Hare Field has become such as to constitute a danger to passengers and people in their places of habitation be- low said congested traffic from the ever increasing possibilities of mid-air collision; and ~BEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Propsect, through its Village Manager and Public Health and Safety Committee) have made investigations and studies and have determined that the aforesaid noise, air pollution, traffic, congestion and danger of collision constitute a threat to the pUblic health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of theiVlLllage; aYld 1NBERE.i\S II it has come to the attention of the Village that there are presently plans for a significant increase in air and ground traffic to and from O'Hare Field which expansion will so magnify the injurious effect of the airport op- erations on the citizens of ~,10unt Prospect as to expand the existing public nuisance to an intolerable level and the Village Board so finds. NOW /I TBEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TBE VILLAGE OF r'10UNT PROSPECI': SECTION ONE: Tnat the air pOllution, noise from overflights.'l danger of air collision, and ground traffic presently existing in the O'Hare area, be and they are and each of them is found;l determined.'l and hereby declfu"""ed to be a public nuisance. SECI'ION THO: That the Village take all action necessary to prevent any expan- sion of the existing airport. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect frOOf\ and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
