A PESOLUTION AUTHOPJZING THE EXECUTION OF .AN AGREEI'1ENT
FOR ML'TU1\L AID

for mutual aid consisting of furnishing equipment and manpower from and
to such oUler municipalities and fire protection districts; lli,d

have proposed that such a mutual aid agreement for fire fighting
purposes be entered into beb'Jeen the said municipalities; and

Prospect believe tllat SUdl an agreement is for the best interests of

NOW, TI-IEFEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOAl'J) OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF 110U.NT PROSPECT, COOK COUl'JTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the President of the Board of Trustees of t...1.e Village

the Village of gomt Prospect is hereby aut.'1orized to attest the l1utual
Agreement made a part hereof 3.."l1d attacbed hereto as :exhibit 1.
SDCTION TINa: That the said Hutual Aid Agreement shall be binding upon
tile parties tilereto and upon t~c successor municipal authorities of
t1e several neighboring municipalities.
SECTION THPEE: lhat t~is Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in t,~c ro.anner prescribed by
law.

Tho purpose of this Agreement is to provide for a program of nutual Aid
be~leen all of tile Participating r~~icipalities '~lereby tilO Aiding
Mu~icipalities will be obligated to respond to the Striclcen ~tmicipality
wi th suc"lJ. equipment and manpower as has boen predetennined by the Fire
Chiefs of eadi l,micipality through the Box J\lana Assignments.
SECTION TWO
DEFINITIONS
For the DUTPOSe of this Agreement, the follovling tonns are defined as
follows:"' -
A. iJ}'lunicipali tyH: A city, Village, or Fire Protection District haV=mg
a recognized Fire Departnent;

plan 1:\~hereby regular responso nnd assistance is provided for in
event of alarms from certain boxes or locations in a Stricken
L'llnicipali ty by the J\iding Tftmicipali tics in accordance loJi W1. tile
Box JUann .Assignments as developed by the Fire Chiefs of tho
Participating J'funicipali ties;
C. nparticipating 1/1unicip:llitiesH: A Uunicipality that commits itself
to this Uutual Aid .l\.greement by adopting an Ordinance authorizing
1)articipation in the program -v,ri th other Participating I'H..micipali ties
for rendering and receiving Nutual Aid in th.e event of a fire or
other disaster in accordance with the Box .ii.1ann .Assignments.
D. "Stricken r,ftmicipali tyH: 1':18 !'imicipali ty in whidl a. fire or
other disaster occurs that is of such a magnitude that it cannot
be adequately handled by the local Fire Department;
E. HflJ.ding Iftmicipali ty": A Hunicipali ty fumishi..'1g fire equipment
and manpOl!ler to a Stricken J1unicipali ty.

The Village President, Mayor, or Board of Trustees of eadl Participating
Hunicipali ty is authorized on behalf of that Municipality to enter into and
from time to time to alter and amend. on th.e advice of the Fire Chief and
wi th the consent of t.he governing body of that I"micipali ty ~ an agreement
with other rimicipalities for VIutual !dd according to the folla;Ti.'1g:
1. Whenever a fire or disClSter is of suu.1. ma.gnitude and consequenco
that it is doemed advisable by the Senior Officer prosent, of the
Stricken ]'''unicipali ty, to request assistance of tc'1e f1iding ;'rnici-
palities, he is hereby authorized to do so, under the tenns of
t1ds I-futual lid Agreemont lli"'1Q the Senior Officer present of the
Aiding Municipalities are authorized to and shall fort."I1wi th take

a. Immediately determine what equipment is required according to
the Hutucd Iud Box JUann J-\.SsignllJGnt.

personnel can be committed in response to the request
from the Stricken Nunicipality.
c. Dispatol. immediately the equipment required to the Stricken
IJunicipality in accordance "!,'Ji th t.,i.e Box i''larm !\ssignmcnts.
2. The rendering of assist::mce mder the terms of this Mutual j\id
Agreement shall not be mandatoI,,! in accordance with the Box PJ.ann
J\ssignil1ents if local conditions prohibit response. In that event
it is the responsibility of the i'dding Hunicipality to irmnediately
notify the Stricken Hunicipality of same.
3. .All of the Participating r.lunicipali ties agree to vlai ve all claims
against t.~e otllor party or parties for compensation for any loss,
da.'11ago? personal injury or death occurring in consequence of the
perfonnance of this I/1utual Aid Agreement. General Liability
Insl<rancc> Personal Injury ~md Pro:perty Damage Insurance against
loss or damage of equipment is the responsibility of each
Participating Ii~.micipali ty as it applies to their 01'111 manpower
and equipment. All services performed mdar this l-rIutual Aid
f..greement shall be rendered lIli thout reimbursement to any
I'!unicipalities.
4-. T.he Senior Officer present> of the Stricken r,1unicipali ty? shall
assumo full responsibility and commaml for operations at the
scene. He will assign Senior Officers and equipment, of the
f~ding ~funicipalities, to positions ~fl~en &id ~iier8 he deeFs
necessary.
5. The Fire Chief l' Officers and personnel of all Participating
Idunicipalities are invited <md encouraged to fr~3quently visit
each others facilities for familiarizn.tion tours, and to jointly
conduct training sessions and hypotiletical disaster exercises.
