RESOLUTION NO. 14-71
A RESOLUrION IN OPPOSITION '1'0 ELIrriATION OF
REVENUE SHARING
~rrlEPEAS, the State of Illinois has enacted a State Income Tax which
provides that a portion of the total tax colledted be refunded to munici-
palities on a per capita basis; and
HHEREAS, the proportionate share of such refunded income tax is
utilized by the Villae~ of Mount Prospect to reduce the total amount of
monies that are collected by real estate taxes; and
WHEREAS~ a bill has been introduced in the Illinois General Assembly
which would eliminate this refundi.1'1g' of a portion of the State Income Tax
to municipalities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PHESIDENT AND BOAED OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF r~OUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNIJ.'Y, ILLINOIS:
SECTION OKfE: That the Board of Trustees of the Village of I\'Iount
Prospect opposes the elimination of the revenue Sharing provisions of the
State Income Tax, believing that :1.1'1 its present form such revenue sharing
is aD equitable method of taxation which decreases the tax burden of the
real estate ovmer.
SECTION TI,\JO: BE IT FtJRI'HER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution
be distributed to the appropriate merrbers of the General Assembly and
the Governor of the state of Illinois.
SECTION 'YBREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the ma.'1Der provided by law.
