RESOLUTION NO. 6-72
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A MASS TRANSPORTATION
AGENCY
WHEREAS, there is an immediate need in the Northeastern
Illinois Counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry,
and Will, excluding the City of Chicago, to meet the pub-
lic mass transportation needs of the citizens therein; and
WHEREAS, the population of these six counties, excluding the
City of Chicago, is in excess of 3,600,000 people; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect are
entitled to equal opportunity for good public mass trans-
portation; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Board of Trustees of the Village
of Mount Prospect believe it to be in the best interests of
the Villaqe of Mount Prospect that the transportation needs
of the public be met and fulfilled;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY,
ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Mount Prospect do hereby recognize the need for
a single public mass transportation agency in the counties
of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will, excluding the
City of Chicago; and do hereby support the concept of such an
agency.
SECTION TWO: That the formation of such an agency and the
funding thereof shall cause no diversion of present Village
funds or other revenues from local, state, or federal sources.
SECTION THREE: That it is hereby declared to be imperative
that all existing modes of public transportation be saved
and augmented, thus forming the basis for providing future
area transportation needs.
SECTION FOUR: That representation on the governing board
of such agency be, as much as is practical, on a one man -
one vote basis.
SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval in the
manner provided by law.
