HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 14-72 07/05/1972 RESOLUTION NO. 14-72 A RESOLUTION URGING TIlE METROPOLITJW SANITARY DISTRICT TO PROCEED WIlli A DEEP TUNNEL PLAN AND THE O'HARE TREATIvlENT PLANT l^JHEREAS, urbanization has taken place in the Greater Cnicago Me tropoli tan Area, and as a result thereof large areas which were formerly marsh land and lowland have been filled in and stonn sewer systems have been installed changing the character of the land and imposing excessive flows on the rivers, streams, and creeks; and WHEREAS, urbanization is continuing throughout the drainage basin and the adjacent states, counties, local communities and developers have previously failed to provide adequate collection and storage for storm water and sanitary sewerage collection in new developments; and "BEREAS, the people in and adjacent to the Village of Mount Prospect and neighboring communities are continuing to experience severE property damage, hazards to health, and inconvenience; and l^JHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is presently served with an inadequate combined storm and sanitary sewer system owned and operated by the Metropolitan Sanitary District; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Sanitary District is currently studying the alternate designs for the O'Hare Sewage Treatment Plan Interceptor System; and "VvfIEREAS, the deep tunnel system is an alternate design that will have great benefits to the Metropolitan .Area and the Village of Mount- Prospect in the prevention of sever flooding by storm waters and sanitary sewerage; and WHEREAS, a solution to this property damage, hazards to health and incon- venience rests in the Metropolitan Sanitary District's proposed O'Hare Treatment Plant and implementation at the earliest date possible; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF M)UNI' PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Metropolitan Sanitary District select the Deep Tunnel System design and construct the O'Hare Treatment Plant and Interceptor System at the earliest possible date. SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
