Hard Deputy Clerk Village of Mount Prospect 112 East Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 Dear Ivlrs. Hard: This will acknowledge your letter and resolution of October la, 1972, concerning additional access to the Northwest Tollway at Elmhurst Road. According to our present policy on future interchanges, any addition to the Illinois Tollway System must satisfy certain criteria specifically in the areas of Need, capacity, Safety and Cost Feasibility. Whereas the demand for a full interchange at Elmhurst Road may be present locally, our preliminary studies do not indicate that a full interchange would prove feasible. In this regard, it should be pointed out that main-line traffic volumes are expected to reach capacity levels in the next 10 years, and any consideration to add additional ramps to the System without improving the level of service for all Tollway patrons may not be practical. We would, however, like to receive copies of your studies so that we can review their findings with our traffic consultants. Should there be any changes which affect our projections or you have additional inputs that may be of assistance, this information would be most appreciated. Very truly yours, 1'11. J.
