HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 28-74 11/05/1974 RESOLUTION NO. 28-74 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING NOISE ABATEMENT O'HARE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect, a municipal corporation of Illinois, is one of the many communities located within the O'Hare Field area and its citizens have, since the opening of O'Hare Field as a commercial airport, been constantly annoyed and disturbed by the noise of overflights, the air pollution created and spread over said Village by the overflights of airplanes and the ground traffic generated by the Airport facility; and WHEREAS, due to this proximity, the air traffic arriving and departing from O'Hare passes through the air space of the Village at relatively low altitude and frequent intervals; and WHEREAS, such air traffic congestion creates both noise and air pollution for the citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, through its Village Manager and Public Health and Safety Committee, have made investigations and studies and have determined that the aforesaid noise, air pollution and traffic congestion constitute a threat to the public health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of the Village. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees do hereby endorse and support the action of William J. Scott, Attorney General and People of the State of Illinois, ex reI, William J. Scott, Attorney General, Plaintiffs, VS. Alexander P.Butter- field, Administrator, Federal Aviation Administration, and John Syrocki, Director Great Lakes Region, Federal Aviation Administration, and Robert D. Timm, Whitney Gillilland, Joseph G. Minetti, Lee R. West and Richard J. O'Melia, Chairman, Vice Chairman and Members, Civil Aeronautics Board, Defendants in Complaint For Declaratory and Injunctive Relief in connection with aircraft operations and noise and air pollutant levels at O'Hare International Airport. SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
