RESOLUTION NO. 23-76
A RESOLUTION OF RESPECT UPON THE RETIREMENT OF HONORABLE
HERBERT H. BEHREL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, HERBERT H. BEHREL has served the citizens of Des Plaines
faithfully and well as City Alderman, 1949-1957, and as Mayor,
1957-1976; and
WHEREAS, HERBERT H. BEHREL, during his unprecedented five terms
as Mayor, served as such in a full-time capacity; and
WHEREAS, he has focused local, state, and national attention
upon the City of Des Plaines through municipal accomplishments
under his leadership as Mayor, Past-President of the Northwest
Municipal Conference, President of the Illinois Municipal League,
and Vice President of the National League of Cities; and
WHEREAS, he and the Des Plaines City Council have cooperated with
their neighboring community of Mount Prospect in many projects
of value to both communities; and
WHEREAS, the said Village of Mount Prospect, through its elected
representatives, wishes to commemorate and acknowledge with
appreciation the efforts of HERBERT H. BEHREL;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the said HERBERT H. BEHREL be congratulated
upon his many accomplishments and cooperative efforts upon the
occasion of a richly deserved retirement.
SECTION TWO: That the said HERBERT H. BEHREL be presented a
copy of this signed Resolution as evidence of the high esteem in
which he is held by the Village of Mount Prospect, together with
every good wish for a long life and happiness.
