HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 39-75 12/02/1975 ,~ ~f RESOLUTION NO. 39-75 A RESOLUTION TO CONSIDER INTER-CONNECTION BETvffiEN VILLAGE WATER FACILITIES AND THOSE OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO WHEREAS, the Municipalities of Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows, Hoffman Estates and Mount Pro~~ect have expressed an interest in inter-connecting their water systems with those of the City of Chicago so as to prov~de each of the municipalities with a surface supply of water with guaranteed capacities so as to eliminate the uncertainties attendant to the providing of water through the means of wells; and ' WHEREAS, it is believed that there is availability of such water supply from the City of Chicago; and vlliEREAS, to obtain such an inter-connection prior to 1980, there will be required an immediate plan, engineering effort and negotiation leading to binding legal contracts between the various municipalities and the City of Chicago; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and appropriate that each of the municipalities adopt a Resolution indicating its intent to proceed with such inter-connections with deliberate speed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEE~ OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect does hereby resolve to fully consider the inter-connecting of its water lineE with those of the City of Chicago so as to obtain a dependable future surface supply of water from Lake Michigan. SECTION TWO: That it believes that the foregoing can best be achieved by acting in concert with the other municipalities mentioned so as to share the cost of inter-connection and thereb3 achieve the economical and equitable result. SECTION THREE: That the Village of Mount Prospect pledges that .t will do all necessary including the expenditure of corporate func s and the Illirection of its employees and agents toward such purpOSE and that all actions taken by it in this connection will be done will deliberate speed so as not be impede the achievement of a common purpose, provided that specific expenditures shall be " w" ubject to the approval of the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the illage of Mount Prospect. )ECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in full force and ffect from and after its passage and approval in the manner rovided by law.
