ORDINANCE NO. 2099
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 17.101 AND 17.103 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
MOUNT PROSPECT
M~, the Fire and Police Committee of the Village of Mount
Prospect on September 9, 1968 did meet and consider changes in the fee
schedule for the licensing of motor vehicles; and
\<JHEREAS, the Fire and Police Committee of the Board of Trustees of
the Village of Mount Prospect have determined that a change in the said fees
would be in the best interests of the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect have determined that the best interests of the Village of
Mount Prospect will be attained by the adoption of the Fire and Police
Committee recommendation regarding motor vehicle licensing fees;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
'IRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Section 17.101 of the Municipal Code of Mount
Prospect of 1957, as amended, is hereby further amended so that the said
Section 17.101 shall be and read as follows:
"Section 17.101 Definition. The term "Vehicle" as used in this
chapter sOO-l be construed to mean every device in, upon, or by
which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon
a highway, except devices moved by human power or upon stationary
rails or tracks, including:
(a) Motorcycles. Every motor vehicle having a seat or saddle for
the use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than three
wheels in contact with the ground, but excluding a tractor as
defined in Section 18.133 (N) of this Code.
(b) Motor Driven Cycle or Motor Bicycle. Every motorcycle or every
bicycle with a motor attached having less than 150 cubic centimeter
piston displacement.
(c) Motor Vehicle. Every vehicle which is self-propelled and every
vehicle not operated upon rails. For the purpose of this chapter,
motor vehicles as a class shall be divided into two divisions, viz:
(1) First Division: Those vehicles which are designed and
u sed for the carrying of not more than ten (10) persons.
(2) Second Division: Those vehicles which are designed and
used for the pulling or carrying of freight and those vehicles
which are designed for the carrying of more than ten (10)
persons."
SECTION 2: That Section 17.103 of the Municipal Code of Mount
Prospect of 1957, as amended, is hereby further amended so that said Section
17.103 shall be and read as follows:
"Section 17.103 Fees. The annual fees for motor vehicle licenses
are as follows:

Each fee shall be reduced by a 25% discount if paid wi thin thirty
(30) days of the due date set forth in Section 17.106."
SECTION 3: That all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, except
that this ordinance shall in no way affect complaints filed for violations of
the forrrer Section 17.103 occurring prior to the passage and approval of this
ordinance in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after January 1, 1969 upon passage, approval and publication in the
rranner provided by law.
