AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE, CHAPrER 21, SECTION 1202 (h)
"CRAWL SPACES"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENr AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOum: PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 21, Section 1202 (h), paragraph 5,
"Crawl Spaces" is hereby amended by the addition of an alternative method
of construction so that Chapter 21, Section 1202 (h) (5) shall be and read
in its entirety as follows:
Section 1202 (h)
(5) The floor of all crawl spaces shall be levelled with
two (2) inches of coarse stone granular material (l/2tf _ 5/8")
over which two (2) inches of concrete shall be poured. The
concrete shall be pitched to a capped drain, or may be pitched
in another manner approved by the Director of Building and
Zoning. Or, in the alternative, the crawl space may be improved
by having the ground covered with four (4) inches of pea
gravel or coarse crushed stone reasonably level over or under
which a polyetheylene vapor barrier with a minimum rate of .006
mil shall be installed and lapped up the foundation wall to a
dimension of six (6) inches.
SECTION 2: This OrdinancE~ shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by
law.
