ORDINANCE NO. 2147
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ARTICLE XII IN CHAPrER 5 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Architectural Commission had been established in Sections 1.1
and 1.2 of the Building Code by Ordinances No. 877 and 533, passed and approved
,by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of r.1ount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, the said Sections 1.1 and 1.2 were repealed by Ordinance No. 2123,
passed and approved by the President and Board of Trustees on December 17, 1968,
which Ordinance placed the entire Building Code of the Village of Mount Prospect
within Chapter 21 of the Municipal Code;
NO\i, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Chapter 5 of the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of
1957, as amended, be and is hereby further amended by adding thereto a new
Article XII, creating and regulating the Architectural Commission, which
Article XII in its entirety shall hereafter be and read as follows:
"ARI'ICLE XII. Architectural Commission
Section 5 .1201. Creation and Appointment. There is hereby created an
Architectural Comrrdssion which shall consist of four (4) persons who
shall be appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the
Board of Trustees. The term of each such member shall be one year or
until a successor is appointed.
Section 5.1202. Compensation and Meetings. (a) The members of the
Architectural Commission shall receive such compensation as may from
time to time be determined by the President and Board of Trustees.
(b) The members of said Corrmission shall meet regularly each Monday
at a time they shall agree upon except that if such Monday falls upon
a legal holiday, the meeting shall be put off until the next secular
day following.
Section 5.1203. Powers and Duties. (a) The Architectural Corrmission
shall examine the plans and specifications accompanying the applications
for building permits as are filed with the Director of Building and
Zoning, pursuant to Chapter 21 of the Municipal Code, to see that the
buildings proposed to be erected or remodeled will comply with the
provisions of the said Chapter 21 (and in particular Article IV thereof)
of the Municipal Code of the Village of Mount Prospect of 1957, as amended.
(b) \fuere necessary, the said Commission may meet with applicants for
building permits whose proposed plans and specifications are vague or
do not meet the approval of the said Corrmission, in order to make
applicants cognizant of the terms of the said Building Code.
(c) Inmediately upon approval or disapproval of such plans and specification ,: .
the Architectural Commission shall return the same to the Director of Buildi
and Zoning."

SECTION TWO.: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
