HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/14/1980 FC MinutesVILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT Finance Commission Minutes of Meeting - February 14, 1980 Chairman Ronchetto called the meeting to order at 8:40 P.M. Present: Chairman Ronchetto, Commissioners Linkman, Anda, Holloway, Beier, Director of Management Services Martha Peppler, member of the press. Commissioner Haase arrived at 9:20 P.M. Village Manager Terrance L. Burghard arrived at 9:15. Absent: Commissioners Bachhuber, Hallman. Chairman Ronchetto presented the results of the survey conducted of Chicago Water users. It was noted that the survey showed that the responding suburbs had not had any significant problems contracting with the City for water. Mr. Anda moved and Mr. Beier seconded the following motion: The alternative of acquiring water from the City of Chicago should be considered on its own merits. Favorable experience by numerous suburban communities for many years should be considered as evidence that Chicago has provided quality water services at accept- able prices on a consistent basis." The motion passed unanimously. Chairman Ronchetto agreed to transmit this recommendation the Village Board. Concerning the same subject, the Commission discussed the possibility of connecting directly to the City of Des Plaines to obtain Lake Michigan water. Mr. Beier moved and Mr. Anda seconded the following motion: "Thorough consideration should be given to the alterna- tive of securing Chicago water directly from Des Plaines." The motion passed unanimously. Chairman Ronchetto agreed to transmit this recommendation to the Village Board. ` Mrs. Peppler presented the preliminary work done by Mr.Haase's firm on an extensive fee survey of area communities. Additional work will be done to present a final report to the Commission. Chairman Rondhettocalled a meeting for March—11, 1980 at WOO—P.K. to discuss the budget which will be delivered to the members March 4, 1980. Mr. Burghard,made some general,comments on the proposed budget, mrs. peppier reported that she had met inSpringfield with Jim Bliss of G.I.E. and the Department of Tnsurance., The appropriate refund should be made by the end of April, 1980. Meeting was 4djourned at 9:30.
