HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/21/1985 FFPB MinutesM MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT FIREMENS' PENSION FUND BOARD JANUARY 21, 1985 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Mount Prospect Firemens' Pension Fund Board was called to order by President Pro -Tem Richard Jesse in the Office of the Fire Chief at 8:02 A.M. ROLL CALL Present upon roll call: Richard Jesse, Comptroller - President Pro Tem Lt. Donald E. Barra, Firefighter Ron Olsen, Firefighter Del Ulreich, Firefighter Carolyn H. Krause, Mayor Carol A. Fields, Village Clerk/Secretary Absent: George Cullens, Retired Firefighter Lawrence A. Pairitz, Fire Chief/President Village Attorney APPROVAL OF MINUTES Del Ulreich, seconded by Ron Olsen, moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of the Mount Prospect Firemens' Pension Fund Board held October 15, 1984. Upon roll call: Ayes: Unanimous, Motion carried. Del Ulreich, seconded by Ron Olsen, moved to approve the minutes of the special meeting of the Mount Prospect Firemens' Pension Fund held January 4, 1985. Upon roll call: Ayes: Unanimous Motion carried. TREASURER'S REPORT Richard Jesse, Treasurer, presented the Treasurers Report dated December 31, 1984. Ron Olsen, seconded by Del Ulreich, moved to accept the Treasurer's Report. Upon roll call: Motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS Finance Committee No report. Ayes: Unanimous Medical Committee Ron Olsen presented medical opinions relative to Lt. Donald Barra's medical condtion. All three doctors (Dr. Charles J. Magee, Dr. Fred Neal, and Dr. Terrence R. Orr) stated the it was their opinion that Lt. Barra's knee condition would not permit him to perform the duties, as specified, of a firefighter. Based on the fact that there are no light duty positions available, Firemens Pension Fund Minutes, January 21, 1985 Page 2 of 2 it was the recommendation of the Medical Committee that the request for medical disability pension be granted to Lt. Donald E. Barra. Inasmuch as this request is not for an 'in line of duty injury' medical disability, Lt. Barra would be eligible for a pension of 500 of his annual salary. The Treasurer stated that the annual salary of Lt. Barra was $32,992, amounting to an annual pension of $16,496, the monthly amount being $1,374.67. Del Ulreich, seconded by Carol Fields, moved to grant the medical disability pension, as requested by Lt. Donald E. Barra, based on an annual salary of $32,992, which pension would be effective January 21, 1985. Also, that all fringe benefits, such as vacation pay, be paid to Lt. Donald E. Barra. Upon roll call: Ayes: Krause, Jesse, Ulreich, Olsen, Fields Nays: None Abstain: Barra Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS It was noted that an election will be held to fill the 3 year term expiring April 15, 1985. The position is presently held by Firefighter Del Ulreich. Also to be elected is a one year position to fill the unexpired term of Lt. Donald E. Barra following his retirement on disability. The election will be held after April 1, 1985 and before the next regular meeting April 15, 1985. ADJOURNMENT Del Ulreich, seconded by Carolyn Krause, moved to adjourn the meeting.
