Emerson Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 village manager MINUTES MOUNT PROSPECT CABLE COMMISSION Phone 312 / 392-6000 APRIL 19, 1984 I. CALL TO ORDER Chairman John Coleman called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m., in the Trustees' Room of the Village Hall. II. ROLL CALL Present upon roll call: John Coleman, Michaele Skowron, Mary Wajer. Absent: John Ruckstaetter. Also present was John Bowman, Administrative Assistant to the Village Manager, and George Wilson, visiting Alderman from Prospect Heights. John Coleman announced that John Rogers has resigned from the Commission. A new member will be appointed to fill this vacancy. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Minutes of the meeting of April 5, 1984, were approved. IV. COMMUNITY TELEVISION WORKSHOPS Commission members discussed the various Workshops attended during the "Building Community Television" Conference sponsored by the National Federation of Local Cable Programmers. Explaining that the Commission may at some point investigate municipal equipment needs, Coleman reported his perceptions of a Workshop on Equipment, Selection and Evaluation, Commenting on a Workshop entitled, "Target Audience Programming,°' Skowron and Wajer emphasized the need for quality production and extensive promotion. "Plugging Government into Cable" was the topic of a Workshop attended by Coleman., which focused on various means to present local government issues to residents. Mr. Wilson described the potential for live "call-in" programs with municipal officials. Other Workshop topics included, "Identifying and Solving Access Management Problems," "Funding Sources for Access Productions," "Chicago Area Cable Update, ""Cable and. «duca"tion """"""Regula'tion and Legislation, "" ""Copyright �aws , an.a Jobs in Cable." V. PUBLIC ACCESS RULES John Bowman reported that Publi-c Access Rules adopted by Cablenet do in fact incorporate all provisions required under the Mount Prospect Cable Communications Code and the Franchise Agreement. VI. ADJOURNMENT Commission members agreed to hold a special meeting on May 9, 1984, at 8:00 p.m., in the Trustees' Room of the Village Hall to discuss final revisions to the Grant Application and Guidelines.
