CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Mount Prospect Safety Commission was called to order at 7:30 P.M. II ROLL CALL Present upon roll call: Andrew Mitchell, Chairman Arthur Coy, Vice Chairman Lee Beening, Commissioner James Hilliger, Fire Department Joe Bopp, Police Department Drew Johanson, Engineering Absent: Jackie Frank, Commissioner III APPROVAL OF MINUTES ommssioner Beening, seconded by James Hilliger moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of the Safety Commission held on May 2, 1983. Motion was passed unanimously. IV NEW BUSINESS A. A request from Mr. Mahaffey, President of the Huntington HUNTINGTON Commons Master Association, to allow parking on the east COMMONS ROAD & side of Hunt Club Drive was reviewed. It was noted the HUNT CLUB DR. original regulations were implemented'at the request of the Homeowners Association. Based on this information, Commissioner Beening, seconded by James Hilliger moved to allow parking on the east side of Hunt Club Drive except in the area of the curve. 1. Motion passed unanimously. B. A request from Mrs. Bina, 917 S. I -Oka Avenue, to revise 800-900 So. I -OKE the traffic restriction on the 800-900 blocks of I -Oka Avenue was reviewed. Mrs. Bina's proposed revisions are as follows: 1. Four-way Stop at the intersection of I -Oka Avenue and Sunset Road. 2. No left turns between 7:00-9:OO A.M. and 4:00-7:00' P.M. signs installed at three locations: Westbound Lonnquist Blvd. at I -Oka Avenue Westbound Sunset Road at I -Oka Avenue Eastbound Golf Road at I -Oka Avenue 3. Reduce speed limit from the posted 25 MPH to 15 MPH. 4. Make the 900 block of I -Oka Avenue a dead-end at Golf Road. -2 - After considerable discussion Commissioner Coy, seconded by Commissioner Beening moved to table the request until the construction in the area has been completed and a traffic study can be taken. Motion passed unanimously. C. A request from Mrs. Wenk, 303 Rammer Avenue, Arlington Heights DALE AVENUE to prohibit parking on Northwest Highway adjacent to Dale Avenue was reviewed. It is the Commissions opinion that the parking or no parking Un SLaLe route should be determined by the state. Commissioner Coy, seconded by James Hilliger moved to have the staff contact the state advising them of the complaint for their review and action. Motion passed unanimously. D. A request from Mrs. Kurr, 116 S. Lancaster Avenue for a street LANCASTER Ali_. light at the rear property line adjacent to the sidewalk which runs between the homes on a 20 -foot easement was reviewed. Mr. Bloom IT 5 S. Waverly explained that the reason he and his neighbors want the light is because adolescents often congregate in the mid -block walk area at night. Joe Bopp commented that the police department has surveyed this area and has checked various reports and can find no justification at this time for the light. After further discussion it was the Commissions opinion that the installation of alight at this location could set a precedent for similar walkways in the area and that additional staff comments should be obtained prior to any action being taken.
