CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Mount Prospect Safety Commission wa_ called to order at 7:40 P.M. II. ROLL CALL Present upon roll call: Andrew Mitchell, Chairman Lee Beening, Secretary Jackie Frank James Hilliger, `Fire Department Drew Johanson, Engineering Absent: Tom Daley, Police Department Commissioner Art Coy arrived at 8:00 P.M. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES m�ssroner ian Seconded by Commissioner Beening moved to approve the Minutes of the regular meeting of the Safety Commission held November 1, 1982. Motion was passed unanimously. IV. OLD BUSINESS Aµ A request from Mrs. Hruban, of the PTA for a FOUR-WAY STOP at the intersections of School and Council Trail, Elm Street and Council Trail was reviewed. The Commission discussed the traffic study conducted in November, 1982 and concluaed that based on the volume of traffic the FOUR-WAY STOPS are not warranted. However, Commission Coy, Seconded by Commissioner Frank moved to replace the ONE-WAY during school hours sign at Elm Street and Council Trail that is already listed in the Traffic Code. Motion was passed unanimously, V. NEW BUSINESS A. A request from Mrs. Schoeffmann, 512 N. Maple Street for a FOUR-WAY STOP at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Isabella Street was reviewed. The intersection presently has a TWO-WAY STOP. Mrs. Schoeffmann expressed her concern for the safety of the children crossing Fairview Avenue: The Commission explained that the vehicular and pedestrian traffic are below the minimum range to warrant a FOUR-WAY STOP. After further discussion, Commissioner Beening, Seconded by Commissioner Frank moved to recommend the police patrol the area for possible speed violators. Motion was passed unanimously. COUNCIL TRAIL AT SCHOOL AND ELM STREETS FAIRVIEW AVENUE AND ISABELLA SAFETY CGiIMISSION MEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER 6, 1982 Page 2 B. A request from Mrs. Henderson, 14 N. Wille Street, for NO WILLE STREET PARKING ANYTIME on Wille Street was reviewed. It was NO PARKING ANYTTM E determined that the parking on Wille Street is caused by the overflow of vehicles from the State Unemployment Office and restricting the parking on Wille Street would just move the problem to another area. A motion was made by Commissioner Coy, Seconded by Commissioner Beening to recommend not to increase the parking restriction on Wille Street, stating it would be more of a hardship to the people who visit the un- employment office than is to the residents on the block. Motion was passed unanimously. C. A request from Mrs. Harnden, 302 S. Main Street for a FOUR-WAY WILLE STREET STOP was reviewed. The intersection of Wille Street and AND EVERGREEN Evergreen Avenue presently has no traffic control. The AVENUE Commission discussed the intersection and concluded that STOP SIGNS are not warranted. A motion was made by Commissioner Beening, Seconded by Commissioner Frank to recommoned denial of the request. Motion was passed unanimously. D. A request from Mr. Vito DeSimone, 1011 Beechwood Drive for BEECHWOOD DRIVE ONE-WAY traffic movement on Beechwood Drive was reviewed The Commission discussed the two block section of roadway and felt that having ONE-WAY traffic is not warranted and would be an inconvenience to the majority of the homeowners who live on Beechwood Drive. A motion was made by Commissioner Frank, Seconded by Commissioner Beening to recommend denying the request for ONE-WAY traffic. Motion was passed unanimously. VI.
