MOUNT PROSPECT SAFETY COMMISSION

The regular monthly meeting of the Mt. Prospect Safety Commission
was held in the Village Hall on June 5, 1978. The meeting was
called to order by Ben Scola, Chairman, at 7:45 p.m. Members
present were: Andy Mitchell, Art Coy, Mike Pekala, Deputy Director
of Engineering, and John Sauter, Engineering Technician.
I. The minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.
II. Chairman Scola informed the Commission that Trustee Murauskis
suggested to speed up procedures that Mike Pekala can report
directly to the Public,Health $ Safety Committee on certain
routine traffic matters. This would allow the Safety Commission
more time for other matters. The Commission members agreed.
III. Art Coy made a motion that the Village contact the State of
Illinois for a speed analysis on the Rte. 83 "S: curve now
that the improvement has been completed. Andy Mitchell
seconded it. Motion carried.
IV. A motion was made by Mike Pekala to change the ordinance from
"No Parking 5 Minute Loading Zone" to a "2 hr. Parking" on
the north side of Evergreen between Maple and Elm, as outlined
in the memorandum submitted by J. P. Sauter, Jr., dated
April 24, 1978. The motion was seconded by Art Coy and
passed. Copy attached.
V. A motion was made by Mike Pekala to add to Schedule 8, Section
18.1317 of the Mt. Prospect Traffic Code "No Parking from
6 a.m. to -9 a.m. Monday thru Friday" on the north side of
Lincoln Street from William Street to School Street. The
motion was seconded by Art Coy and passed. Copy of John
Sauter, Jr. memorandum dated June 2, 1978 attached.
VI. Art Coy made a motion that the existing 25 mph speed limit on
N.W. & S.E.bound Prospect Avenue between Maple Street and
Mt. Prospect Road be upgraded to 30 mph. Motion seconded by
Andy Mitchell and passed. Copy of Mike Pekala's memorandum
of May 22, 1978 attached.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
