MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
June 3, 2006
ATTENDEES: Sandi DiCaro, Dale Draznin, Janice Farley, Skip Farley, Christina
Greco, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Jim Uszler, Teresa
Wolf, Laury Youngquist
ABSENT: Della Baldwin (N), Jill Friedrichs (N), Eileen Gattas (N), Paul Seils
Chairman Skip Farley called the meeting to order at 9:01 am. A motion was made by
Martha Helm, seconded by Jim Uszler, to approve the minutes ofthe May 6, 2006,
meeting. The motion was approved. A motion was made by Linda Hoefert, seconded
by Dale Draznin, to approve the Financial Report as of May 31, 2006. The motion was
approved.
Welcome to Mt. Prospect: Dale Draznin reported that churches are excited and glad to
participate; schools need to be encouraged; service organizations come to invite new
members. The following suggestions were introduced: Have this event once a year; have
a bag of information available at Village Hall; a change of the name of the event;
combine with the Art Walk sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Assoc.. A
subcommittee of Teresa Wolf, Jim Uszler, Dale Draznin, and Mike Janonis will report
back to the Commission by September.
Fine Arts Festival- 6/24/06, lOAM-5:00PM - Teresa Wolf: 48 artists have registered.
There will be a raffle with tickets costing $1.00 or six for $5.00. One $500 scholarship
has been awarded to a student from Hersey High School. The other high schools have
not responded. Sandi DiCaro offered to contact Prospect High School.
4th of July Parade: Tuesday, 7/4/06, 1:00: On behalf of Jill Friedrichs, Skip read her
report. 46 applicants have registered. $8,820 has been spent as of this date.
Do-It-Yourself Sousa - 7131/06 - Martha Helm: Registration forms have been sent to
303 previous registrants. The announcement of the registration will be posted on the
Village sign board soon. The music will be mailed with the assistance of Laury
Youngquist toward the end of June or beginning of July. Martha will contact Dick
Hughes for flags to be distributed to the audience by Commission members at the event
Family Bike Ride: Teresa Wolf reported that the 10/7/06 date for the event is not
available. A new date and possible alternate location will be determined.
House Decorating Event - Week of 12/4/06: Linda Hoefert suggested that
nomination/application forms be made available to home owners to eliminate driving
through every neighborhood. A decision will be made at a later date.
