ORDINANCE NO. 2286
AN ORDINANCE .AlvlENDING ARI'ICIE III OF THE BUILDING CODE
BE I'l' ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDEN'r AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE
OF MOUNT PROSPEC'l', COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Article III of Chapter 21 of the r,1unicipal Code of
Mount Prospect of 1957, as arrended, be and the same is hereby further
arrended by inserting therein a new Section 21.315, which shall here-
after be and read as follows:
"Section 21.315. Special Regulations For The Installation of
Undergrounq l<'l8mnable Liquid Storage Tanks Or 'lhe Construction
Of other Buildings Near Such Existing 'lanks.
A. No service station tank or tank for the storage of gasoline
motor fuel, or other flamnable liquid shall hereafter be
erected, built, constructed, or installed within the corpor-
ate limits of the Village of Mount Prospect by any person,
firm, or corporation when the type of, number of, and/or
capacity of such storage tanks does not meet the require-
ments for same as prescribed by the ordinances of the
Village of Mount Prospect or when such tank itself shall be
installed within 300 feet from any tunnel or shaft, air or
escape shaft for a mine, school, church, hospital, or pUblic
hall.
B. No tunnel or shaft, air or escape shaft for a mine, school,
church, hospital, or public hall shall hereafter be erected,
built, constructed, or installed within the corporate limits
of the Village of Mount Prospect by any person, firm, or
corporation where the location of such proposed tunnel or
shaft, air or escape shaft for a mine, school, church, hos-
pital, or public hall is within 300 feet from any existing
service station tank or tank for the storage of gasoline,
motor fuel, or other flamnable liquid.
C. The distances hereinabove enumerated shall be measured
from the near edges of such tanks in all directions to the
nearest point of such tunnel or shaft, air or escape shaft
for a wine, school, church, hospital, or public hall.
D. "Public hall" as used in this section means any building
or structure which is used at any time for pUblic meetings
or the assewbling of people for purposes of amusement,
instruction, or religious worship."
SECTION TWO: That former Sections 21.315 and 21.316 are hereby re-
numbered Sections 21.316 and 21.317 respectively, so that hereafter
the said Sections 21.316 and 21.317 shall be and read as follows:
llSection 21. 316. Ventilation Panels
All buildings of a controlled atmosphere design, having non-
operable windows or no windows at all, and exceeding three (3)
stories in height shall be constructed with Fire Department
ventilation panels at all floor levels at a location determined
by the Fire Chief.
Section 21.317. Conflict With Other Ordinances.
Nothing in this Article III shall be deemed to conflict with any
other law or ordinance of the Village of Nount Prospect or any
such regulations contained in this Chapter."
SECTION THREE: That all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SEGrION FOUR: Thatl this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval, and pUblication in the manner
provided by law.
