MAYOR'S REPORT Subject 3.1 PROCLAMATION: Honoring Maria McCarthy on her Retirement as 3rd District Supervisor of the Cook County's State's Attorney's Office Access Public Type Information Public Content Maria McCarthy Proclamation. pdf (10 KB) Administrative Content Executive Content https://go.boarddocs.com/il/vomp/Board.nsf/Private?open&login 1/1 A PRO CLAMA TION HONORING MARIA MCCAR THY ON HER RETIREMENT AS 3RD DISTRICT SUPER VISOR OF THE COOK CO UNTY'S STA TE 'S A TTORNEY'S OFFICE WHEREAS, Maria McCarthy served the Citizens of Mount Prospect and Cook County faithfully and with distinction for the last 3 decades, most recently as the Cook County State's Attorney's 3rd District Supervisor where she played a most vital role in the fair and ethical prosecution of criminal defendants; and WHEREAS, she was raised in Mount Prospect, attended Prospect High School where she was recently named a distinguished alumni; and WHEREAS, Maria received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and her Law Degree from Chicago -Kent College of Law; and WHEREAS, She was named a supervisor in 1999 at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 26' and California, and in 2008 was named the supervisor of the District 3 State's Attorney's Office at Rolling Meadows; and WHEREAS, Maria shares her passion and knowledge for the law with younger generations as an instructor in trial advocacy at Northwestern Law School and Criminal Justice at Harper College; and WHEREAS, Maria has had nearly 100 felony jury trials and hundreds of bench trials. She has always been a champion of justice and has undoubtedly made our community safer, putting some of the worst, most violent offenders behind bars for many, many years. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby acknowledge and honor Maria for her dedication and unwavering commitment to the citizens in our community. Despite her small stature she had the heart of a lion when seeking justice for victims and their loved ones. She will always be remembered for her fairness and impartiality. Her ethical behavior inside and outside the courtroom was the gold standard that all should be judged by. She leaves behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. Arlene A.
