ORDINANCE NUMBER 2327
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2.104 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, Section 1-1-2.1 of the Illinois Municipal Code of 1961
specifically authorizes the President of a Village to be referred
to as Mayor of such Village; and
WHEREAS, the President of the Village of Mount Prospect has
traditionally been referred to as either "President" or "Mayor";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Section 2.104 of the Municipal Code of Mount
Prospect of 1957, as amended, be and the same is hereby further
amended in its entirety so as to set the text of the existing
Section 2.104 within paragraph A. thereof and so as to add a new
paragraph B. thereto, authorizing reference to the Village Pres-
ident as Mayor; so that hereafter the said Section 2.104 shall
be and read as follows:
"Section 2.104. President.
A. The Village President shall be the presiding officer
of all regular and special meetings of the Board of
Trustees and at all times when the Board meets as a
committee of the whole.
I B. The Village President may be referred to as Mayor of
II the Village.

1. The term "Village President" as used in any
11 ordinance, resolution, motion or other action
I of the corporate authorities shall be construed
! as meaning the Mayor; and the term "Mayor"
whereever so used shall be construed to mean
the Village President.
2.
The title "Mayor" as used in the minutes of the
meetingsof the corporate authorities or any other
official document shall be construed as meaning
"Village President","

I SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
I effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication
I in the manner provided by law.
