HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 2345 03/28/1972 ORDINANCE NUMBER 2345 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21.103 OF THE BUILDING CODE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (2) of sub-section (a) of Section 21.103 of the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 1957, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended to modify the BOCA Basic Bui1d- I ing Code with respect to the use of certain plywood f100r- I ing by adding a new sub-subparagraph (vii) and changing I the existing sub-subparagraph (vii) to sub-subparagraph i (viii) -- the new sub-subparagraph (vii) to require the use I of 3/4l1thick or greater plywood flooring; so that here- 'I.., aft e r the sub - sub par a g rap h s ( vii) and (v i i i) 0 f sub - par a - , graph (b) of paragraph (2) of sub-section (a) of the said II Section 21.103 shall be and read as follows: I II i I ! I i 'I II I I II II I I II I I lI(vii) Flooring Requirements: Section 825.32 regard- ing plywood combination sub-flooring -- underlayment is hereby revised to prohibit use of plywood in less than 3/411 thicknesses and to substitute in the said Section 825.32 '3/4' wherever '5/8' and '1/2' ap- pear therein. II ( vii i ) Elevator Construction: ( a ) Article 16 is hereby revised to include prOV1Slons for the construction of all passenger elevator cabs and door openings shall be of a size large enough to accept a standard portable ambulance cot in its horizontal position. (b) In general, all elevators and elevator equipment shall be provided with: ( 1 ) Sight Guards: Sight guards shall be installed on all elevator and hoistway doors. This requirement will provide protection against entry into the elevator shaft by children or other unauthorized persons. ( 2 ) Automatic Scavenger:.The addition of a re- quirement for hydraulic elevators to be equip- ped with an automatic scavenger oil return line would eliminate any accumulation of hydraulic oil at the base of an elevator shaft. !
