HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 2407 02/20/1973 Ii II I I ORDINANCE NO. 2407 AN ORDINANCE CONTROLLING SIGHT-DISTANCES AT UNCONTROLLED OR YIELD INTERSECTIONS WHEREAS, the Fire and Police Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect has recommended that the President and Board of Trustees concur with the recommendation of the Safety Commission; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect have reviewed the matter herein and have determine that the same is in the best interests of the Village of Mount Prospect; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That Section 9.501 of the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 1957, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended in its entirety by reducing the height of shrubs and othe obstructions to thirty-six (3611) inches and by adding additional sight-distance regulations thereto, so that hereafter the said Section 9.501 shall be and read as follows: IISection 9.501 Planting. A. It shall be unlawful to plant any tree or shrub in any public street or parkway or other public place without having first secured a permit therefor. It shall be unlawful to plant, maintain or permit to grow any tree, shrub, or planting of any type within six (6') feet of any fire hydrant. Appli- cations for such permits shall be made to the Clerk, and shall be referred by him to the Village Manager, or his duly authorized representative. No shrub shall be planted, maintained or allowed to grow to a height of more than thirty-six (36") inches from grade. Trees shall be planted at least fifty (50') feet apart. All trees and shrubs so planted shall be placed subject to the direction and approval of the Village Manager, or his duly authorized representative, and shall become the property of the Village of Mount Prospect. All trees planted in any public street or parkway or other public place pursuant to a permit issued in compliance with this Section 9.501 shall have a trunk in excess of one and one-half (1-1/211) inches diameter and one of the following species only, to-wit: Norway Maple Red Maple Sugar Maple Hackberry White Ash Green Ash Blue Ash Tulip Tree White Oak Burr Oak Pin Oak Little-leaf Linden Schwedler's Purple Maple Crimson King Maple Horse-Chestnut American Beech Purple-leaf Beech European Beech Maidenhair Tree Moraine Honey-Locust Northern Red Oak Scarlet Oak Red Oak Christine Buisman Elm SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
