HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/09/1999 SEC minutes MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Minutes January 9, 1999 ATTENDING: Elmer Blasco, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Lit Floros, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Mike Janonis, Laura Luten, Laury Youngquist, Guest: Jan Scott 1. The meeting was called to order by Lit Floros. Minutes of the December 5, 1998 meeting were approved. 2. Martha Helm was introduced and welcomed as a new commission member. 3. Finance report. Cash balance December 31, 1998: $17,958.75. Balance of Celestial Celebration VI December 31, 1998: $11,674.67. 4. Sounds of the Season. The event was very successful: However, because 'of several problems in .,!. .. .. dealing with new personnel at Randhurst, next year's event is questionable. 5. Home Decorating Contest. Many thanks to Laury Youngquist for handling this event. 6. Veteran's Memorial. Over $325,000 has been collected and the Zoning Board and Village Board have approved plans. The second reading will be considered in 2 weeks. Construction will begin as soon as possible with the dedication to be held Memorial Day, May 31, 1999. Plans are for a parade and dedication program. The Veteran's Memorial Committee would like the assistance of the Special Events Commission in planning the service. 7. Celestial Celebration. Tickets are going fast. Jill Friedrichs will print name tags, Linda Hoefert is working on decorations. Each person will receive a photo album with 23 pictures. Each table will have a disposable camera which Lit purchased from Keefer's Pharmacy at cost. The menu has been selected with appropriate names. The Shining Star plaques have been ordered. The printer has finished printing the pictures which are ready to be picked up. The Commission will meet at the Public Works building Monday, January 4 at 10:00 a.m. to put the pictures in the albums. 8. Jan Scott presented the idea ofa New Year's Eve 1999 event followed by discussion. 9. The next meeting will be March 6, 1999. Respectfully submitted, Janice Farley, Secretary
