HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/06/1999 SEC minutes MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Minutes March 6, 1999 ATTENDING: Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Jill Friedrichs, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Mike Janonis, Laura Luteri, Terri Pistone 1. The meeting was called to order by Leo Floros. Minutes of the January 9 and February 13, 1999 meetings were approved. Chairman Leo Floros confirmed that no limit was placed on the number of attendees for next year's banquet. 2. Financial Report. The Celestial Celebration statement shows a balance of$3,276.87. The Special Events Commission balance as of February 28, 1999 is $9,470.42. 3. Leo and Lil attended and reported on Arlington Height's banquet, "Hearts of Gold." The banquet was very good but not as festive as ours. 4. Welcome to Mount Prospect (April 24 at the Senior Center). Dale Draznin reported that the organization letter will go out Monday and the letter to new residents will be sent March 22. The reminder cards will be sent April 14. Dale can use some help with the mailings. 5. Veteran's Memorial. The program committee for the dedication have met twice. The Daily Herald is printing a full page ad listing all contributors without charge. The ad will come out the day of the dedication. 6. Do It Yourself Sousa (June 27 at Lions Park). Laura Luteri reported that this will be an evening concert as part of the park district's "Picnic in Your Park." The park opens at 4: 00 p.m., rehearsal of the band is at 5:00 and the concert will be at 7:30. Ushers are needed. 7. Fourth of July Parade. Jill Friedrichs sent out 150 applications and a float meeting was held on March 3. Several musical groups have been contacted. There has been a big response from small units. 8. Leo asked Terri Pistone to consider an event in the River Trails Park District that the commission can get involved with. Respectfully submitted, Janice Farley, Secretary
