Balance June 30, 1999: $6,239.04. 4. Veteran's Memorial. Leo reported that for all practical purposes, the memorial is completed. The stone work is done but electrical work is not finished. The sound system seems to be inadequate, possibly due to unqualified people setting up. 5. Do It Yourself Sousa. Laura thanked the commission for helping. 165 musicians participated with an audience of around 2000. A poster of early Sousa in Atlanta was donated by a participant to present to Mike Golemo next year. Laura requested funds to have the poster framed. It was approved. 6. Fourth of July Parade. Jill reported that there were 97 units in the parade. $13,863.01 was spent out of the $15,000 budget. All bills are paid. It was agreed that the parade was very well organized but we need to find a way to keep from having large gaps and to work on getting more music groups. Leo asked everyone to come to the next meeting with ideas. 7. The Jaycees and the Park Foundation are having a circus at Melas Park September 10 and 11. They have asked that the SEC Commission assist in passing out advertising posters. 8. Celestial Celebration VII. Lil reported that the theme is "Music, Music, Music." The banquet will be held February 5, 2000 at Bristol Court with the same hours and ticket price. Colors are black, blue and silver. The band hired is the Ralph Wilder Orchestra.
