HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/04/2000 SEC minutes MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Minutes November 4, 2000 ATTENDEES: Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Martha Helm, Mike Janonis, Laura Luteri, Terri Schroeder, Laury Youngquist Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the October 7, 2000, meeting were approved. The Financial Report was also presented and approved. Welcome to Mt. Prospect: Dale reported that there had been approximately 50-60 new residents at the event. Mike informed the Commission that he had received good feedback from those residents and organizations that were present and had stayed the entire length of the program. He recommended that the next raffle time be shortened. Winter Festival Parade - 12/9/00: Steve reported that the parade route has been established and that, as of this date, there will be eleven floats including Mt. Prospect Park District, Lions, Historical Society, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, River Trails Park District, Bank One, Norwood Construction, Daily Herald, Arc Disposal, Village of Mt. Prospect. In addition, the Prospect Marching Band and Mt. Prospect Community Band will participate. Hersey Marching Band is tentative. The TAP Youth will be marching as the "Charlie Brown Christmas" group. Refreshments from MidCity National Band and The Daily Herald will be served in a tent near Wille Street. Holiday Decorating Event: Laury Youngquist announced the judging of homes will be held during the week of December 6-13. Fourth of July Parade: Lil informed the Commission the theme of the parade will be "Building for Tomorrow", and the committee is meeting regularly to assist Jill Friedrichs. Celestial Celebration Shining Stars - 2/3/01: The deadline for Shining Star nominations is November 15. Leo encouraged all members of the Commission to submit a nomination. As of November 4, 17 nominations have been received for eight people in three categories. The banquet's theme will be "It's Magic" with black, white, and purple decorations and a centerpiece including a top hat and bunny. Lit and Janice are choosing the menu.
