HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/02/2000 SEC minutes MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Minutes December 2, 2000 ATTENDEES: Lil Floros, Leo Floros, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Paul Seils, Laury Youngquist Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the November 4,2000, meeting were approved. The Financial Report was also presented, and after an explanation of the disbursement of$550.00 to Summerfield Farms for reindeer for the Winter Parade, the report was approved. Holiday Decorating Event: Laury Youngquist reported that an announcement had been printed in the village newsletter and the newspapers, asking any residents who wish to have their house judged to contact her. Maps of assigned areas and the various categories were given to members of the Commission. Laury asked that the members select 2-3 houses per category, perhaps making notes of houses, then return to them to make a final decision. She asked for the entries to be returned to her by December 10. Laury and Linda Hoefert will make the final judgment. Celestial Celebration Shining Stars - 2/3/01: There have been over 100 nominations for Shining Star Awards. Linda reported on the decorations, balloons, and flowers. A magician is being considered for the cocktail time. David Farley's Orchestra 33 will be the musical entertainment. Janice is selling tickets. Fourth of July Parade: Lit reported that Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, and Paul Seils will be meeting with Glen Andler to determine if there is a better route for the parade. Winter Festival Parade - 12/9/00: Steve Durlacher reported that there will be 28 entries in the parade, including 13 floats lit by the village with floodlights, and 250 light sticks along the route. There will also be carolers along the route, and the refreshment tent at Prospect and Wille. Line up will be at 4: 00 PM with the Public Works employees starting off the units. The Daily Herald will be sponsoring the Santa Float. The meeting was adjourned at 10: 10. Respectfully submitted, Martha Helm
