MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Minutes
January 6, 2001
ATTENDEES: " Lil Floros, Leo Floros, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Steve Durlacher, Janice
Farley, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Laura Luteri, Paul Seils, Laury Youngquist
Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9: lOam. The minutes of the December 2, 2000, meeting
were approved. The Financial Report was also presented and the report was approved.
Winter Festival Parade: Laura Luteri reported that the event had been a great success
and a good time was had by all. From a post-parade meeting, it was recommended to have another
parade next year, and a date has been set. Suggestions included having a bigger tent with two
doors, to have the units walk a bit slower, and to include the reindeer again. Leo read a thank you
note from residents Jeanne and Bob Matthews.
Holiday Decorating Event: Laury Youngquist reported that considering the bad weather, the
contest was successful. She mentioned she had received a thank you note from the family who won
for the best window. Laury will also sent a note to Kevin Grouwinkel for his donation of the
award signs.
Celestial Celebration Shining Stars - 2/3/01: Lil Floros reported that Janice Farley had sold
over 500 tickets as of 1/6/01. Decorations will include black and white napkins and
floral centerpieces with a magic hat and a fluffy bunny. Jill Friedrichs is working on the nametags.
Commission members were encouraged to be at the Bristol Court at 11 :00 on
the day of the event to assist. There will not be a regular meeting.
Fourth of July Parade: Leo reported a meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 17,
and possibly each month to assist Jill Friedrichs on the parade plans.
A newsletter deadline letter, prepared by Maura Jandris, was distributed to the Commission
members.
The next meeting of the Commission will be on February 10.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 am.
