MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Minutes
February 10, 2001
ATTENDEES: Lit Floros, Leo Floros, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Jill
Friedrichs, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Terri Schroeder Laury Youngquist
Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the January 6, 2000, meeting
were approved. The Financial Report was also presented. Included were the expenses and
receipts for the Celestial Celebration, minus the costs for flowers, balloons, photos, nametags,
frames, and other incidentals which will be included next month. The report was approved.
Celestial Celebration Shining Stars - 2/3/01: Lil Floros led the discussion on the Celestial
Celebration, asking for comments. The Commission members agreed it was a very nice event.
The only negative comments were regarding the handwritten signs displayed by Bristol Court and
the sound system. Lil reported that the Park District is apparently looking into the possibility of
purchasing a sound system for use at such functions. There will also be a future decision on
having tables for twelve people rather than ten to avoid over crowding.
Fourth of July Parade: Jill Friedrichs reported that after much discussion and deliberation, the
parade route will remain the same for 2001. The committee's next meeting will be held on
Wednesday, February 28, at 5:30.
River Trails Park District: Terri Schroder announced that they had received a State Achievement
Award, and thanked the Commission again for their contribution to their Earth Day event.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 am.
