MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Minutes
May 5, 2001
ATTENDEES: Lil Floros, Leo Floros, Corky Dunn, Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Martha
Helm, Linda Hoefert, Mike Janonis
Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the March 3,2000,
meeting were approved. The Financial Report was presented, with a question as to the
disbursement to Swiderski Electronics, Inc, if$340.00, which was for the audio/visual
equipment at the Celestial Celebration. The Report was approved.
Welcome to Mt. PrOSDect: In Dale Draznin's absence, Leo Floros reported that the Spring event
had had a low attendance, but that no changes will be made for the next October 20 event. A
recommendation will be made to Dale to include a reply card in the invitations to the new residents.
Do-It-Yourself Sousa - 6/1 0: In Laura Luten's absence, Steve Durlacher requested Commission
members to be available to hand out programs and flags at the event. He also reported that posters
are available for distribution to businesses, churches, and other locations.
Fourth of Julv Parade: Leo reported that the committee is meeting on a regular basis and is
progressing in the selection of marching units. There are currently 26 units contracted, including
musical groups from local schools. A recruit mailing will also be sent. Glen Andler is arranging
for Public Works people to assist in the start and movement of the units.
Possible Arts/Crafts. 2002: There wasn't a report at this time.
Mike Janonis reported on the Chamber of Commerce Block Party, which will be held on
July 28 on Emerson Avenue between the bank "drive-through" and the library parking lot.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 am.
