MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
November 5, 2005
ATTENDEES: Bob Ancon~ Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Janice Farley, Leo Floros,
Jill Friedrichs, Eileen Gattas, Martha Helm, Kathy Janonis, Paul Seils, Teresa Wolf,
Laury Youngquist
Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9:06 am. The minutes of the October 8
meeting and the Financial Report as of October 31 were approved.
Holiday Decorating Event: Paul Seils distributed maps of various Mt. Prospect
neighborhoods to Commission members for judging between Saturday, December 3, and
Wednesday, December 7. Awards will be presented to the homeowners at the Village
Board meeting on December 13.
Welcome to Mt. Prospect: Dale Draznin reported on a successful event which 60-70
new residents attended. After some discussion, it was decided that at the future events,
businesses will be invited to supply flyers and/or business cards to be displayed at the
Downtown Merchants Assoc. or Mt. Prospect Chamber of Commerce table.
Winter Parade -12/3/05 - Kathy Janonis reported that there have been 24 units
confirmed for the parade. Jill Friedrichs and her Mother will light the luminaria candles
along Emerson Street.
Shining Star Awards: Leo reported that nominations are coming in slowly and
encouraged Commission members to submit a nomination for a worthy person.
Move the Schoolhouse: Leo reported that there aren't any specific plans for the move,
but it is hoped it will be done before the end of the year.
Thanksgiving in October: Janice Farley reported that 150 people were in attendance
and The Avalon provided excellent food and the band good music.
Leo had received a letter from the Arlington Heights Art Guild requesting space at the
Mt. Prospect Village Hall to display artwork. Discussion was held and a decision was
made to pass the information on to village officials.
The meeting adjourned at 9:49 am.
