PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Meeting Minutes August 6, 2005 ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Dale Draznin, Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Eileen Gattas, Martha Helm, Mike Janonis, Paul Seils, Teresa Wolf, Laury Youngquist Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:03 am. The minutes of the July 9 meeting and Financial Report as of July 31 were approved. Do-It-Yourself Sousa: Martha Helm reported that there had been 44 registered players in addition to the 82 members of the Community Band. There had been 54 registrations in 2004. The exact count of the audience was uncertain but 500 flags and programs were handed out. Lil thanked Martha and Eileen Gattas for a successful event, and it was determined that the concert will again be held on a Monday night in 2006. Art Fair: Leo Floros reported that the $175 fee was refunded to LePeep, Photo's Hot Dogs, and Capannari' s. They were appreciative. Bike Ride -10/1/05: Bob Ancona and Teresa Wolf reported that Officer Bill Roscop will be working with community groups for security. The designated charity had been changed. It had been determined that there is an available grant for $50 oxygen masks for dogs. Holmes Junior High School will instead be joining our event to benefit their cultural programs through their pledges. Bob will order 500 white t-shirts. Move the Schoolhouse: Leo reported that plans will soon be presented to Norwood for providing the foundation. The Special Events Commission and the Historical Society will provide an event to celebrate the final move. Volunteers will be supplying work to upgrade the building. Celestial Celebration xm - 2/4/06: Lil announced the committee will be meeting on August 24. Ideas were discussed for decorations. Because of the 4th of July rain-out, the Shining Star award winners will be asked to participate in the 2006 parade. Paul Seils reported that the Cruise Night held on every Saturday night in the West parking lot, sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Assoc., the Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce, has been very successful.
