MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
October 8, 2005
ATTENDEES: Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Leo Floros, Jill Friedrichs, Eileen Gattas,
Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Teresa Wolf
Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9: lOam. The minutes of the September 3
meeting and the Financial Report as of September 30 were approved.
Bike Ride: Teresa Wolf reported that there were approximately 400 riders and 40 riders
from Holmes Junior High School at the event. Donations of $200 were collected and
$250 for the food. Chips, muffins, donuts, and water had been donated by Costco. Leo
thanked Bob Ancona and Teresa for their efforts in planning the event.
Welcome to Mt. Prospect -10/22/05: Dale Draznin reported that the Park and School
Districts will have tables among others. The event will again be held in the Community
Room at Village Hall.
Winter Parade - 12/3/05 - Mike Janonis reported that letters have been sent to various
organizations asking for their participation. Mr. & Mrs. Santa, reindeer, the Little
People, and bands have all agreed to be in the parade.
Holiday Decorating Event: Leo announced that Paul Seils will have area assignments
for the Commission members at the November meeting. Preliminary judging by
Commission members will be done between Saturday, December 3, and Tuesday,
December 6. Final judging will be completed the weekend of December 9-11. Awards
will be presented to the homeowners at the Village Board meeting on December 13.
Celestial Celebration XIII- 2/4/06: Leo reported that there had not been a recent
meeting.
Shining Star Awards: Leo announced that nomination forms had been mailed out and
encouraged the Commission members to nominate someone deserving.
Move the Schoolhouse: Leo reported that there have been three or four bids from
movers, and they hope to do so yet this Fall. Hopefully there will be an activity to
celebrate the final move.
Thanksgiving in October- 10/27/05: Janice Farley has tickets for those interested.
