MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
May 7, 2005
Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9: lOam. Minutes of the April meeting and
Financial Report were approved.
Art Fair - 6/25, 10am-5pm: Teresa Wolf passed out copies of the new layout for the
fair. The original plan was to use west side near Route 83. However, the artists preferred
not to use that area and the whole layout was remapped. To date there are 8 purchase
awards. There will be awards presented to the best artists in 5 categories. A trophy will
be presented to "Best of Show." Every hour will be a raffle drawing. Dancers will
perform throughout the day. The Youth Commission will be asked to assist with the
children's tent. Two schools responded to the poster contest: Forest View and Fairview.
Many people will be needed to help with the event.
Toy Dump Trucks: Public Works will be ordering more.
4th of July Parade: Entries have been coming in every day.
Do-It-Yourself Sousa: The event will take place August. Eilene Gattas will be Martha's
assistant.
Family Bike Ride -1011: Flyers have been printed. It was suggested that the Youth
Commission be involved. The suggested charity for the event is donating toward the
purchase of masks for animals in case of fire (through the Fire Department).
Move the Schoolhouse Party: Leo reported that enough money has been raised to pour
the foundation and move the schoolhouse. The Special Events Commission will plan and
execute the party when the move is accomplished.
Other: The Downtown Merchants Association will have a Cruise Night every Saturday
evening in June, July and August. Cars will be on display.
The next meeting will be held on June 4,2005.
