PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Meeting Minutes September 4, 2004 ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Jill Friedrichs, Martha Helm, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Jim Uszler, Teresa Wolf, Laury Youngquist Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the August meeting were approved after the correction to show 2005 dates rather than 2006. The Financial Report as of August 31, 2004, was approved. Family Bike Ride - 9/18/04: Bob Ancona reported that the event plans are complete. A suggestion was made to include a mention in next year's flyer that the roads will be blocked and there will be police control. Bob asked for volunteers to be at Melas Park at 8:30 am. He also proposed that next year's event be held the last week in September or the first week of October. The dates will be discussed at a later time. Art Fair: Leo Floros will set up a Saturday morning meeting early in November with members of a committee formed by the following: Nancy Prichard and Mary Jane Matecki from the Mt. Prospect Library Sally Wallman Diane Kovack from River Trails Park District Cheryl Lufitz and Janice Stone from Mt. Prospect Park District Jan Deswik Ken Fritz Celestial Celebration - 2/5/05: Lil Floros announced the committee had named the theme of the event to be "Blending the Old with the New". The color scheme will be silver and blue. A contract has been signed with the Ralph Wilder Orchestra and with Bristol Court. A mass mailing for nominations will be sent. Welcome to Mt. Prospect - 10/16/04: The event will take place in the new Community Room at Village Hall. International Festival - 9/25/04: A motion was made by Martha Helm with a second from Leo Floros to allocate $500 for the rental of a sound system for the festival, organized by the Mt. Prospect Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Harris Bank & LaSalle Bank. The motion was approved. The meeting adjourned at 10:10 am.
