MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
August 7, 2004
ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Jill
Friedrichs, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Paul Seils, Jim
Uszler, Teresa Wolf, Laury Youngquist
After a tour of the new village hall, Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9:40 am.
The minutes of the June meeting were approved after the correction of the spelling of
Jeff Bruner's name, and the Financial Report as of July 31, was approved.
A letter of resignation from the Commission from Barbara Jenkins was read by Leo
Floros. Barbara is an employee of The Daily Herald, and they have an Ethics policy
which prevents her from serving on a Commission.
Do-It- Yourself Sousa: Martha Helm reported that 54 people in addition to the Mt.
Prospect Community Band members pa~i~ated in the event on June 13. Possibilities of
more publicity were discussed for the 2,&vent.
4th of July: Jill Friedrichs reported that the parade has gotten better over the years.
There were approximately 90 units which participated, including new groups. She had
received appreciation for the musical groups, including the junior high school bands.
Jill willconh with Glen Andler regarding Public Works employees handling the line
up for the 2tv'arade.
Family Bike Ride: Bob Ancona reported that a meeting had been held recently
regarding the event "Families Riding for Families" to be held on September 18. The
route will be from Melas Park to the Mt. Prospect Golf Course. Registration forms will
be sent to the schools. The Mt. Prospect National Bank will sponsor the event, which
should cover the cost of the t-shirts handed out to the participants. CEDA has been
chosen to be the recipient of the proceeds.
Toy Dump Trucks from CCXI: Paul Seils will follow through with Public Works on
the new logo to be put on the trucks, which will then be sold.
A discussion was held on the possibility of an Art Fair in 20@ Leo formed a committee
to gather information and ideas to be brought back to the September meeting -

Jim Uszler - Chamber of Commerce
Paul Seils asked for an assistant on the House Decorating Event. Barbara Jenkins was
suggested.

October 2 - River Trails Arts Fair
The meeting adjourned at 10:30 am.
