MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
June 5, 2004
ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Jill Friedrichs,
Janice Farley, Martha Helm, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Barbara Jenkins, Paul Seils,
Teresa Wolf, Laury Youngquist
Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the May meeting and
the Financial Report as of May 31, were approved.
Barbara Jenkins was introduced as a newly appointed member of the Commission. Lil
announced that Della Baldwin and Martha Helm had been reappointed.
Do-It-Yourself Sousa: Martha Helm reported that 53 people in addition to the Mt.
Prospect Community Band members will participate in the event on June 13. Dale
Draznin and JeffBru~er will distribute flags donated by ERA Brokers. Janice Farley,
Paul Seils, Teresa Wolf, and Bob Ancona volunteered to be at the concert to distribute
programs.
4th of July: Jill Friedrichs reported, via letter, that she has received, as of this date, 49
registrations. 116 reminder letters were sent on May 19, and she has received many
phone calls from new potential participants. Jill asked for available Commission
members to meet at Mrs. P & Me at 11 :00 am on July 4.
Lil read a letter from Mary Catherine Mullen, Recreation Supervisor at River Trails Park
District, asking for a donation to their Playground Pals program, which helps entertain
children during the summer at no charge. Leo Floros made a motion, with a second by
Della Baldwin, to allocate $500 from the Special Events Commission funds.
Family Bike Ride: Bob Ancona announced the bike ride will be held on September 18,
and asked for ideas for a charitable donation.
The meeting adjourned at 9:50 am.
The next meeting will be August 7 in the new village hall.
