HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/03/2004 SEC minutes MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COl\'IMISSION Meeting Minutes April 3, 2004 ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Leo Floros, LiI Floros, Linda Hoefert, Jill Friedrichs Pope, Paul Seils, Jim Uszler, Teresa Wolf, Laury Youngquist. Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. The minutes of the March 6 meeting were approved as presented. FINANCIAL REPORT: There were no Financial Reports presented. WELCOME TO MOUNT PROSPECT: Dale Draznin reported that a sizeable number of resident and organization responses had been received and all was in readiness for the April 17 event at the Central Community Center. All members of the Commission present indicated they would be on hand for the event to serve as hosts for the new residents. Anum ber of gift certificates from local stores will be raffled off. FOURTH OF JUL Y PARADE: Jill Friedrichs distributed copies of a letter to be sent to local organizations inviting their participation in this year's parade. The parade will be held Sunday, July 4. A parade theme of "A Community of Diversity" was proposed and adopted. The Fourth of July Parade Committee will be meeting on a regular basis from now until the date of the parade. DO-IT-YOURSELF SOUSA CONCERT: Invitation letters have been mailed to previous participants throughout the Chicago area. Martha Helm is working with the Mt. Prospect Park District to promote this outstanding event scheduled for Sunday, June 13, at Lions Memorial Park. The event has been held annually for 11 years. - 2- TOY DUMP TRUCKS: The toy trucks featured at the Celestial Celebration in February have been delivered and the Public Works decals are being applied. Paul Seils agreed to coordinate the sale and distribution of the trucks with other local businesses. One of the toy trucks will be raffled off at the Welcome to Mount Prospect event and others will be distributed at the Public Works Open House. The toy trucks will be sold locally for $15. OTHER: Bob Ancona reported that a scheduling conflict will necessitate a date change for the annual Family Bike Ride. The new date is Saturday, September 18. Jim Uszler reported that arrangements have been made with the Police Associ~tion to continue the Antique Car Show in August. The event previously was sponsored by the Mount Prospect Historical Society. --Leo Flo~,os Acting Secretary
