MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
January 7,2006
ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Janice Farley, Leo Floros,
Lil Floros, Linda Hoefert, Martha Helm, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Paul Seils,
Teresa Wolf
Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9:07 am. The Minutes of the December 3
meeting and the Financial Report as of December 31, 2005, were approved.
Winter Parade - Mike Janonis reported that the parade had been successful, including
the snow fall. Leo thanked Glen Andler and Maura EI Metennani for their efforts.
Holiday Decorating Event: Paul Seils reported that awards and signs had been
presented at the Village Board meeting and the winners were very pleased to
receive them.
Celestial Celebration - 2/4/06: Janice Farley reported that over 500 tickets have been
sold as of 1/7/06. Linda Hoefert told of the decorations with white tablecloths and red
napkins, balloons, a small clown will be given to each as the favor, an elephant will be
outside the building, and signage is being completed by Kevin Grouwinkel. Lil Floros
reported that donations are still being received. Leo announced that the Shining Star
recipients have been selected. Martha Helm has ordered the awzrd plaques, and she and
Bob Ancona will be working with the photographer early in the evening. A choir from
Holmes Junior High School will perform; the Prospect football players will be on hand
for one of the awards; and flowers are being arranged by Busse Flowers. The
Commission members will meet at Bristol Court at 11 :00 to help set up.
Fine Arts Festival-6/24/06: Teresa Wolf reported that their committee has met and
phone calls are being made to new artists. There will be approximately 80 booths and
experienced judges, perhaps high school art teachers. Live entertainment will be
performing and Photo's Hot Dogs and Capannari' s Ice Cream will be selling food.
A raffle will be held with the monies collected going toward scholarships.
