RESOLUTION NO.
19-79
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HOUSE BILL 662 AND
SENATE BILL 696
WHEREAS, all citizens are concerned about the increasing costs of all governments;
and
WHEREAS, numberous costs associated with local government expenditures are
not within the authority to control by the local government officials; and
WHEREAS, HOUSE BILL 662 and SENATE BILL 696 each provides that following
specified procedures, the State of Illinois must reimburse local governments
for costs of new programs or expansions of existing programs mandated by the
General Assembly or State Executive Departments or agencies; and
WHEREAS, HOUSE BILL 662 is scheduled for the second reading in the House; and
WHEREAS, SENATE BILL 696 is in the Senate for final action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That our State Representatives and Senators be urged to enact
such legislation; and that the Governor is hereby requested to sign such
legislation in an effort to control the growth and expansion of State programs
that mandate local expense.
SECTION TWO: That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be sent to
Representatives Eugenia S. Chapman, Virginia B. MacDonald, and
Donald L. Totten, and to Senator David J. Regner.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
