RESOLUTION NO.
20-79
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PARTICIPATION OF THE VILLAGE
OF MOUNT PROSPECT IN THE NORTHWEST MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE'S
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR SERVICE OF COMMUNITY ANTENNA
TELEVISION, OR CABLE TELEVISION, WITHIN ITS LOCAL JURISDICTION
WHEREAS, the Northwest Municipal Conference is a corporate organization representatj
of municipalities and townships chartered within the State of Illinois and the County
of Cook; and
WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 10, of the Constitution of the State of Illinois,
. and Chaper 127, paragraphs 741 through 748 of the Illinois Revised Statutes,
. authorize and encourage intergovernmental association and cooperation; and
WHEREAS, the public officials of the Northwest Municipal Conference represent twenty-
nine local government bodies and a population of over 750,000 Illinois residents; and!
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is authorized by Federal and State
statutory rule for the franchise and regulation of cable television systems; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect recognizes the potential for general
public and community benefit gained by the installation and operation of such
cable television services; and
WHEREAS, the number and types of cable television services provided nationally
by more than 3,600 CATV companies demand a thorough investigation, professional
review and competent finding for guarantee of the best possible franchise
operable within the Village limits; and
WHEREAS, the general membership of the Northwest Municipal Conference is at
this time most interested in similar determinations of cable industry franchising
within their respective corporate jurisdictions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect hereby authorizes the Village
: of Mount Prospect to participate in the Northwest Municipal Conference's request
for franchise proposals, recognizing that any such proposal thus received may be
accepted or rejected at the total discretion of this governing Board.
SECTION TWO: That upon acceptance of any franchise proposal, the Village of
Mount Prospect may anticipate initial construction on or about July 1, 1980.
SECTION THREE: That the Village Manager of the Village of Mount Prospect
shall appoint a staff liaison for all communication and contact concerning such
,proposal and that choice of such staff be communicated directly to the Conference office
SECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
