ORDINANCE NO. 2859
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTrON lB . 14J.6
OF THE TRAFFIC CODE
WHEREAS, the Chicago & North Western Transportation Co. has allowed its
automated signals and gates to remain activated and closed on several days
without attempting to alleviate the resultant traffic congestion or repair the
malfunctioning devices until some sixteen hours had lapsed; and
WHEREAS, the President and BOI1~d of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect
believe other entities than the Chicago & North Western Transportation Co, could
also create similar havoc through the blocking of local thoroughfares; and
WHEREAS. it is the belief of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect that such activity is a pUblic nuisance and should not be allowed; I
NOW J THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEE
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY J ILLINOIS: .
SECTION ONE: That, pursuant to the authority vested in the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect under Article VII of the 1970Constitu.-
tion of the State of Illinois, Section 18.1416 of the Municipal Code (Traffic Code)
of the Village of Mount Prospect of 1957, as amended, be and the same is hereby
further amended by adding thereto an a,dditional subsection. Subsection C; so
that hereafter the said Subsection C of Section 18.1416 shall be and rend as follows:
"
C. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to
cause the blocking and/or obstructing of traffic upon any
street by any means other than those listed in Subsections
A and B hereinabove for a per:t6d in excess of thirty (30)
minutes. fi
SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance sh8.11 be in full force and effect f1'ofl1 fmc\
after its passage. approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
